Boa shrimp are considered to be a very attractive shrimp hybrid. The shrimp is thought to be a hybrid between caridina serrata tiger (tangerine tiger, aura blue) and Taiwan bee shrimp. Of course there is a wide range of patterns and colors available and prices range from affordable for common boas to an eye watering several hundred each for the most beautifully colored and patterned. As with most caridina shrimp, soft, slightly acidic water with an active substrate is a must. If you are new to shrimp keeping I would advise against starting with boa shrimp. If you have the experience however, keeping and breeding such beautiful shrimp is a rewarding experience.
